21 Document Types

Business Document Automation: PDF to ERP & EDI | PEDIF

From procurement to logistics and control, each document type is assessed with its own layout, field and validation scope.

Why Stop at Invoices?

Most Tools Are Limited

Many products are optimised for individual document classes or tasks. An end-to-end workflow must align document type, data model, exception process and target system.

PEDIF is the solution

PEDIF can connect multiple document types through a shared workflow model. Layouts, fields, rules and target outputs are still defined for each document type.

FAQ

Document automation moves recurring business documents into a controlled digital workflow. Depending on the scope, this includes intake, recognition, field capture, validation, exception handling, and handoff to a target system.
Examples include invoices, orders, delivery notes, order confirmations, and other recurring business documents. The document categories shown are for orientation; the actual supported scope is approved by document type, layout, field scope, and target workflow.
Recurring layouts generally require an agreed setup. This defines document characteristics, relevant fields, validation rules, and target outputs. Fingerprints or comparable configurations enable known layouts to be recognized in a controlled manner.
OCR can capture characters from image-based or scanned documents. PEDIF also considers the document layout, business fields, validation, exceptions, and target-system handoff. Whether OCR is used depends on document quality and the approved workflow.
Quality is not assured through a blanket accuracy guarantee, but through a defined scope, representative testing, validation rules, and controlled exception handling. Metrics apply only to the specific document, field, and process scope tested.
Depending on the project, a connection can use approved APIs, file transfer, email, SFTP, EDI, or other agreed interfaces. Formats, mapping, authentication, monitoring, and error handling must be defined for the specific target system.
PEDIF may be relevant for finance, procurement, order processing, logistics, and supply chain workflows where recurring PDF or email documents interrupt a structured ERP, EDI, DMS, or API process.
PEDIF can support document intake, layout assignment, capture of agreed fields, validation, review paths, and structured handoff. Which steps are automated depends on document quality, exceptions, and the agreed target workflow.
The handling of sensitive documents follows the approved operating and security model. Before use, access, encryption, data location, retention, deletion, subprocessors, and contractual arrangements should be reviewed against current evidence. Further information is available at: https://www.pedif.digital/en/security.
The best approach is to use representative sample documents and a clear description of the target workflow. A fit assessment should evaluate layouts, relevant fields, data quality, exceptions, target format, interface, and expected operating process.
