Digital intake does not automatically mean digital order processing
Many customer orders already arrive by email, portal or PDF attachment. Yet order numbers, items, quantities and delivery dates are often still entered into the ERP manually.
A PDF is easy for people to read. For the ERP, however, it is not yet a structured order. PEDIF turns the relevant information into usable data.
Why PDF orders often still require manual ERP entry
Order number, customer number, delivery date, item number, quantity and price are already visible in the document. To use them in the ERP, however, they need to be clearly assigned to the correct fields and checked.
Employees open the PDF, transfer the information and then check the entry. This works at low volumes but becomes time-consuming when orders arrive regularly.
Information can be recognized and suggested automatically. Complex or changing orders may still require focused review.
